THERE has been some confusion over the opening of Hamilton’s early voting centre, which will open from 9am this Saturday, May 14.

While early voting officially opened on Monday, May 9, the polling place at Hamilton Senior Citizens Centre will not open until Saturday.

Some early voters have apparently been disappointed to find the Lonsdale Street location closed after travelling a fair distance to cast their vote. 

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) said voters should carefully plan their vote, by checking the opening hours of voting centres before making the trip into town.

Hamilton Senior Citizens Centre will be open from 9am-4pm this Saturday; 8.30am-5.30pm from Monday, May 16 – Thursday, May 19; and 8.30am-6pm on Friday, May 20.
