THE Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) has invited new residents across the area to attend the New Resident’s Function on Monday, June 20.
From 6pm at the Greater Hamilton Library, the newest members of our region will have the opportunity to connect with volunteer organisations, community groups and meet with locals.
After the previous two events were cancelled due to the pandemic, SGSC mayor, Bruach Colliton, said this year brought a renewed opportunity for the newest members of our region to forge connections.
“It’s great to bring back the New Residents Function this year after the past two events weren’t able to go ahead due to COVID and lockdowns,” he said.
“This year’s event will provide a warm welcome to all newcomers.
“Whether you have just arrived in the Southern Grampians or if you moved here at the start of the pandemic back in 2020, you are welcome to come along and hear more about what makes this region a great place to reside.”
Volunteer organisations, recreation, and community groups are also invited to attend to provide information and answer questions new residents may have about settling in the region.
“The New Resident’s Function is the perfect evening for new faces to get involved with groups and organisations, make friends and actively find your place within our community,” councillor Colliton said.
Light refreshments will be served at the function.
To register your attendance, or if you would like to attend on behalf of a community group, please email ewilliamson@sthgrampians.vic.gov.au or call 5573 0444 before Friday, June 17.
