WANNON Water undertook works at the corner of Thompson and Lonsdale Street (out the front of the Commercial Hotel) starting Thursday, August 18, with works completed on Friday, August 19.
Minor traffic disruptions occurred while Wannon Water completed rehabilitation works on the sewer system.
Wannon Water’s contractor, South West Pipe Relining, closed the northbound lane of Thompson Street between Gray and Lonsdale Street on Thursday over the two days, with a traffic management plan in place for the duration.
Parking on the west side of Thompson Street was restricted during this time, however pedestrians were still able to access businesses.
The contractor used a non-evasive trenchless method, which meant most of the work was completed underground from within the existing infrastructure with no excavation required.
A new pipe was installed within the existing sewer and property connections reinstated from within the sewer using robotic equipment. There were no service interruptions for customers.
Wannon Water thanked the public and road users for their understanding and patience while the essential project was carried out.
