Show jumpers delight

ORGANISERS and riders were on tenterhooks during the week over the weather, but a couple of sunny days saw four rings run for the Casterton P&A Society’s Horses in Action program, after a three-year absence.

Riders from across south-west Victoria and south-east South Australia converged on Island Park for everything from novelty races and dress-ups in the topsy ring to the Casterton News Junior Non EA jumping and the prestigious Jarrad Motors Open Championship.

In the final event of the weekend, long-time Casterton Show supporter, Kristy Bruhn and James Bentley cleared the final jump to take the open championship title.

Continuing her successful mission to find life after racing for the country’s thoroughbreds, Grace Chantler and Quiet Ale, aka ‘Frosty’ took home the Best Performed OTT competitor in the non EA ring, taking home the Casterton Racing Club trophy rug.

In the main arena, Cody Collins and OTT jumper Happy took home the Second Chance Horses trophy rug for their efforts over the two days of events.
