Concerns over footpath safety

A CONCERNED Hamilton citizen has brought up the state of footpaths in Hamilton, claiming they are damaging his motorised scooter which he relies on for mobility.

The resident, who did not wish to be named, said his scooter was crucial to him because he suffers from motor neuron disease and is unable to walk.

“These things are expensive at the best of time and if you break something on it, then it costs big money to repair,” he said.

“I originally come from Lakes Entrance where they do everything in their power for people on scooters and walking frames.

“Even Casterton do more than Hamilton.”

The Southern Grampians Shire Council have said that if there were any major issues about trip and slip hazards they can be reported to their website or they can call the customer service line.

“The footpaths are being considered in the CBD revitalisation project,” they said.
