HAMILTON City Council seems to have sold itself short by at least $1500 in the sale of its McPherson St. house. The house, which was previously occupied by the former town clerk, Mr. Hec Donald, has been sold to the deputy engineer, Mr. Kevin Safe, for $13,000. However, the council had earlier received offers from private buyers, submitted through agents, for figures well in excess of the final sale price. One prospective buyer yesterday told the Spectator she had submitted an offer of $14,500 for the house and had been prepared to go to $15,000. “We had inspected the house at Easter and submitted our offer through an agent,” she said. “On Thursday after Easter we heard the council would inspect the house and value it on May 11. On May 11 we were told no decision had been reached.”
