WITH the handing down of a recommendation from the Select Committee Inquiry into recreational native bird hunting to ban the practice in Victoria, polarised reactions from individuals and groups on both sides of the issue have been swift and forceful.

The inquiry was instituted by the State Government in February earlier this year and became notable for receiving a record number of submissions, over 10,400, for any issue the Victorian parliament has considered.
