THERE would be few for whom a flick through the Portland Observer would not turn up something of interest written by senior reporter Chalpat Sonti, who today finishes a run of more than 20 years in the newspaper business.

Last month marked five years since Mr Sonti arrived in Portland with his wife and their three sons, to begin the longest stretch the transient reporter has lived anywhere in his working life.
