WITH less than two months to go before the inaugural Hamilton Rockfest, on Thursday night the Rockfest committee postponed the December 2 rock music festival until 2024 due to circumstances beyond their control.
A post on Hamilton Rockfest’s Facebook page said it was an unfortunate decision, but they would like to thank everyone for their support.
“Hamilton Rockfest 2024 will be bigger and better as it will give us more access to future available grants, and source a major, well-known headline act,” they said.
“Our weekly fundraising and upcoming raffles will also continue to raise money for the 2024 event.
“We have recently consulted with the community as to what changes would encourage them to attend the festival and we have taken their suggestions into consideration and incorporated them into the 2024 plan.”
Hamilton Rockfest said this decision had to be made now as deposits for the event needed to be paid in the next two weeks and these were for essentials such as security, all abilities access toilets, staging and sound bands, solo artists and airfares – they also needed to give as much notice as possible to all parties involved.
“Our 2024 date will be advised as soon as Western Speedway announce their 2024 timetable,” they said.
Current ticket holders will be reimbursed through Eventbrite.
