MEMBERS Of Hamilton and District Legacy are again collecting fleeces and preparing for the 72nd annual Fleece Show which will be held in the Fashion Pavilion at the Hamilton Showgrounds early next year.

The Hamilton and District Legacy Committee have decided that the show will not be judged until February 2024, with judging to be held on Wednesday, February 28, and fleeces available for public viewing on Thursday, February 29, with the winners’ presentation on the evening of Thursday, February 29.

This decision was made as it’s a less pressured time for participants to visit the show.

The 2022 Fleece Show was originally scheduled for December last year, but got pushed back to February 2023 due to wet conditions preventing farmers from shearing sheep.

Hamilton Legacy currently has over 80 widows who they support in various ways, and the Fleece Show plays a significant role in raising funds to enable this to continue.
