Interschool Readers Cup

SIX south-west primary schools participated in the Readers Cup late last month, with Australian children’s author, Alison Reynolds, on board to help host and judge the challenge day.

The Readers Cup is an interschool reading challenge, with teams from Macarthur, Penshurst, Dunkeld, Branxholme-Wallacedale, Coleraine and Cavendish all competing for the top honour.

Ms Reynolds ran a writers’ workshop and then helped judge the creative book responses and quiz, making the comment that all creative responses were at a very high standard.

The benefits of the challenge include encouraging a love of books and reading – students get to create and showcase their creative responses, and it is also a great way for small, rural schools to come together to build relationships.
