THE sad story of a male platypus found to have been injured by a constricting rubber band was brought to the attention of Hamilton Wildlife Shelter recently.

Volunteer wildlife carer, Shelly Burrows, said the mammal was rescued after being observed to be struggling in the water at Lake Hamilton.
