NARRAWONG District Association’s (NDA) Mouth2Mouth (M2M) event on Sunday morning was a blast for all who joined.
NDA communications event organiser Megan Allen said they had 60 walkers in total participate, and 23 out of those took the bus to Fitzroy River to walk or run the 14km.
The remaining number took part in the 3km and 7km course along the Narrawong Beach.
Locals and regular participants from Warrnambool took on the course.
Later in the morning took place a well-attended colour run on the Narrawong recreation reserve.
“We had a huge turnout of kids for the Colour Run, which was amazing,” Ms Allen said.
“They always do a water fight first, that way all the colour sticks to their clothes better and there was a big tank of water there that all the kids were using water pistols with.
“We were really worried about the weather, given that the weather report, but we were blessed with a great day.
“It could have been flooded out, given how some of the other community’s places went. We were very lucky.”
Entry fees from the walkers and colour run raised $2000 in funds to go back into the community.
“Which is a fantastic effort, and that money now goes back into the community in the form of supporting the Narrawong little Nippers Program.
“It goes back into supporting the lifeguards on the Narrawong beach over the summer holiday period, and it can also go back into the maintenance of the I-Van.”
Raffle tickets were sold around the caravan park and area, which four prizes would later be given out for.
The annual event was put together by the NDA and the M2M sub committee with the support of their sponsors, Admella’s Fruit n Veg, BIG4 Narrawong Island Holiday Park, Portland Seafood, Bay of Whales Gallery, Chicken on a Hill, Portland Sportspower, and the Spud Slinger.
More photos from the Mouth2Mouth event will be in Friday’s edition of the Portland Observer.
