Ute rollover after 60m on inclining embankment

A DRIVER incurred minor injuries after his New South Wales plated ute came off the Glenelg Highway and tipped on an embankment just after 8pm on Thursday night. The single occupant of the black Mitsubishi Triton walked away from the vehicle and was assessed at the scene. The vehicle was travelling outbound from Hamilton on the Glenelg Highway and was 700 metres past the McIntyres Crossing Road turnoff to Moutajup when it came off the road. Hamilton Police leading senior constable, Gina Gilchrist, said the car travelled for 60 metres with two wheels on the inclining embankment before it tipped over. SES crews helped the man climb out of the vehicle by using a hydraulic spreader to open the vehicle’s bonnet, then removed the car battery as a safety precaution before the vehicle was towed back to Hamilton.
