THE February session of summer’s Music in the Gardens will bring a solo performance by Daryl Parfrey in Hamilton’s beautiful Botanic gardens on Sunday, February 4, between 2-4pm.
Mr Parfrey lived in Hamilton for many years before moving to Mount Gambier 11 years ago but is still doing a lot of performances.
“I have been solo for twenty years since my days with Take Five,” he said.
“I will be doing a bit of rock ‘n’ roll – I’ve changed my repertoire and given it a new lease of life.
“There will be plenty of good country rock type stuff along with some good old ones that people still request.
“I love doing them - people still request them a lot, so I enjoy playing them.”
Mr Parfrey said he would cater to the more senior audience and make his play list a little more conservative.
“I do quite a bit of country these days - the older person has changed their music taste - they seem to like the country music.
“I’ve got my digital backing and I play guitar - it gives me a pretty good sound.
“People say they like it so that is all that matters.
“I’m really looking forward to coming back to my hometown.
“I’m an old Hamiltonian from way back.
“I was a hairdresser in Hamilton for 35 years so I’m really looking forward to coming home.”
The Friends of the Gardens thanked all performers for giving their time over the summer period, and pleasure to our community through these sessions, providing such wonderful quality entertainment in our beautiful Gardens.
