VISITORS to the Hamilton Botanic Gardens now have an additional feature to enjoy with the completion of the rose garden at the fountain.

Designer, Lisa Ellis – an ex-local - from Ellis Garden Design was selected to design the garden and due to her strong Hamilton connections, she has an appreciation of the relevance and important place the historic area holds in the community.

The colours of the roses were chosen with the fountain in mind and the colour palette will create a stunning facial paint – there are more than 250 roses planted selected to give a tonal overall cloud and mass effect.

The Friends of the Hamilton Botanic Gardens also tried to select roses from different eras so that it will give a historical picture of the development of the rose over time – this was a requirement of the gardens being Heritage Victoria listed.
