FOLLOWING a highly successful concert season in Dunkeld last year, the Australian Chamber Choir (ACC) returns with their first performance of the year on Saturday, February 24, entitled ‘Transports of Delight’.
Long-time ACC conductor Douglas Lawrence, together with his talented singers, will ensure that the concert will transport the audience on a virtual tour of cities where the choir has performed in the past.
The tour encounters a range of historic composers, including Henry Purcell in London, César Franck in Paris, Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn in Berlin, JS Bach in Leipzig, Anton Bruckner in Vienna and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina in Rome.
Dunkeld resident Peter Flinn said that local music lovers were thrilled that this world-class choir was returning to the Western District this year, after the concert received a full house in the Community Centre in December.
Hamilton also features prominently in the Choir’s 2024 program, with a concert, entitled ‘Agatha in Vivaldi’s Venice’ on Saturday, April 13.
This will be held in St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and preceded by a guided tour of ‘Emerging from Darkness’, the major exhibition currently on show at Hamilton Art Gallery.
The ACC is excited to embark on its eighth European concert tour later this year, providing a great opportunity for choral music enthusiasts to join them.
The choir will also return to Dunkeld for two other concerts later in the year, with their ‘International Tour Program’ on Saturday, June 8, and ‘Baroque Christmas 2024’ on Saturday, December 14.
Dunkeld’s Royal Mail Hotel is offering dining and accommodation packages in conjunction with each concert, once again in their support of the Choir’s 2024 season.
