Hardingham helps White to victory

THE Hamilton Basketball Association season draws closer to finals, with round 11 games played this week.

Men’s Division 1

Barber Boys White d St Mary’s Black

THE early game on Wednesday saw Barber Boys White claim victory against St Mary’s Black by five points to retain second spot on the ladder.

White burst out of the blocks, grabbing the lead with Black unable to match the output in the first half, going into the main break trailing, 20-28.

Black bounced back after the break to win the second half, but was unable to reel in the entire deficit, eventually losing, 44-49.

Nathan Hardingham shot a game-high 19 points for the winners, while Jack Roberts was Black’s best with 12 points.

St Mary’s Orange d Barber Boys Black

THE later game was far more one-sided, as St Mary’s Orange continued to flex its muscle with the ladder leader recording a 48-point win against Barber Boys Black.

Orange dominated the round 11 contest from the outset, piling on 25 first-half points to go into the break leading by 12 points.

The second half was when Black fell even further off the pace, managing just eight points, while conceding 44 at the other end, as Orange recorded a 69-21 victory.

Jacob Hill continued his strong season, leading the Orange team’s scoring with 17 points, while Toby Knight’s seven points was Black’s best.

Women’s Division 1

Tigers d St Mary’s Orange

TUESDAY’S early game saw Tigers keep their top two hopes intact with a 29-point win against St Mary’s Orange.

Tigers went into the game in second spot, with Orange in top spot, but it was the Tigers which grabbed the early ascendency.

Rhianne Lewis was instrumental throughout, as the Tigers held a eight-point lead at the main break, before going on to win, 48-19.

Lewis finished with 17 points, while Stella Grinham was one of Orange’s best with five points.

St Mary’s Black d Minders

THE late game saw St Mary’s Black account for Minders by 15 points.

Black put together a consistent game, scoring 22 points to 13 in the first half, before adding another 22 points in the second half to hold Minders at bay and win, 44-29, at the final buzzer.

Charlize Cooper was the hero for Black, putting up 15 points, while Lily Raymond provided strong support with 11 points.

Zoe Hill finished with 12 points for Minders.

Just two rounds remain before finals, setting up some important battles on the court.
