COINCIDING with International Women’s Day this Friday, March 8, Hamilton police have invited the public to drop in for a chat.
The event is called “Coffee with a Cop”; venue the Roxburgh Café in Thompson St, time between 10 am and noon.
According to Sgt Kelly McNaughton, the occasion aims to spark conversations and provide an opportunity for the community to interact and connect with their local police on safety issues and more.
“It’s a chance for a casual chat about what’s on in your life, what it’s like working in Victoria Police and any other questions people may have,” she said.
“You can ask any and all questions on community safety, thereby understanding police, and interacting to build positive relationships on key issues in a relaxed environment, outside a crisis situation.
“Our mission is to build relationships one cup of coffee at a time, with the coffee on us.”
The event is billed by organisers as being held on International Women’s Day to ensure women and girls are given equal opportunity to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead.
