RESIDENTS are encouraged to make the most of the Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) outdoor swimming pools this weekend with the hot weather forecast.

The March long weekend is the traditional season end date for our outer township pools, however this year SGSC are pleased to be able to open pools on weekends from 3-7pm until the end of March at Coleraine, Balmoral, Dunkeld, Penshurst and Glenthompson pools.

Following the Labour Day long weekend and the public holiday on Monday, March 11, the Hamilton pool will be closing slightly ahead of schedule to allow some investigation and testing works to be completed.

SGSC wellbeing, planning and regulation director, Rory Neeson said that the early closure of the HOSP, while inconvenient, was necessary for safety of the community. 

“Council staff and contractors need to complete some leak investigation work and pipe testing immediately at the pool,” he said.

“We apologise for the slightly early closure.

“We will take good care of this important and cherished community asset.”

The Coleraine swimming pool will remain open for early morning swimming on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 6.30 to 8.30am until the end of March.

The official last day for the season will be Sunday March 24.
