SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) began resealing works in two sections on the Grange Burn walking track earlier last month.
Works on section two have been completed and the trail has been opened between Portland Road and Griffin Street, while there has been plans to open section one (from the railway overpass through to the platypus bridge) within the next week.
SGSC director wellbeing, planning and regulation, Rory Neeson said, “The works to restore the Hamilton Grangeburn walking track are being funded through the State Government Council Flood Support Fund.
“Council received $500,000 through this fund following the October 2022 floods, which is for non-essential asset restoration.
“Council have been undertaking a number of restoration projects through this funding including soft fall replacement in playgrounds, Mt Baimbridge lookout works and the upcoming works to the Hamilton - Tarrington walking track. “Council have also recently funded drainage works along the Grangeburn to reduce the impact of future flooding on the walking tracks.”
