NOMINATIONS for the annual Moyne Love Local Awards have been opened.

The awards have created a platform for the community to recognise and celebrate the outstanding local businesses that have provided fantastic customer service or have made brilliant products in Moyne.

Moyne shire mayor, Councillor Ian Smith said the Love Local program was developed during the COVID pandemic as a way of encouraging people to support local businesses during lockdowns.

“It has grown from that to become a key program for Council to promote and celebrate the fantastic things local businesses are doing - and these awards are an important part of that,” he said.

“We have four categories people can nominate their favourite businesses for: Most Sustainable, Best Customer Service, Most Community Focused, and Made in Moyne.

“Why not show these businesses some love and nominate them for the annual Love Local Awards?”

Cr Smith said nominated businesses would then be put to a community vote from June 4-18 to determine the winners which would be announced at an event in June.
