Glenthompson Lions Park Upgrade

THE Glenthompson and District Community Association (GDCA) has been thrilled with the commencement of upgrades at the Lions Park, with many projects to go ahead to improve its features.

Over the past year, the floodlights at the Glenthompson Lions Park have been on at night to make it safe for travellers using the toilets at night.

Earlier this month, the Southern Grampians Shire Council also installed two sets of tables and chairs in ‘Rex’s Shed’ to provide seating in addition to the bench seat around the back of the shed.

Over the next six months, the old toilet block in the park is set to be demolished and a new set of toilets built, with all-abilities access, a baby change table and more undercover seating.

This will include new lighting, bins, signage - and along with Council’s announcement of $120,000 to go towards the old school project - bring $370,000 to Glenthompson in this and next financial year.

The GDCA has also been working on other key projects to reinvigorate the town over the coming years and said they will continue to work with Council and apply for grants to obtain funding for these projects.
