Iconic parking meters up for grabs

SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) has given locals the opportunity to snap up a piece of Hamilton history as they open Expressions of Interest for the sale of Hamilton’s ‘vintage’ parking meters.

Freshly plucked from the red bricks of Hamilton’s CBD streets, these meters will make the perfect accompaniment to any home, garage or man cave.

These vintage treasures make a unique conversation starter, statement piece, or perhaps even add a touch of nostalgia.

SGSC mayor, David Robertson said there had been significant interest in the sale of the meters.

“Ever since we announced we were swapping over the meters; people have been asking what our plans are for the old ones,” he said.

“Apparently, they are a hot item for collectors and then there are community members as well who are just keen to own a slice of Hamilton history.

“We have over 100 meters available, so we invite you to get your Expression of Interest in as soon as possible.

“Money from the sale of the meters will be put straight back into community initiatives for the Southern Grampians Shire.

“These unique items are expected to go fast, but get in quick as once they’re gone, they’re gone,” Cr Roberston concluded.
