Eventide seeking new provider

EVENTIDE Lutheran Homes and Hamilton Village chief executive, Tim Pitt-Lancaster has confirmed that the aged care facility that is home to around 150 residents is searching for a new approved provider.

The accredited aged care provider that also offers independent living options has been run by the Lutheran entity since it first welcomed residents in 1962.

Owned and operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia Victorian District (LCAVD), the facility presently employs around 90 staff delivering different levels of direct care and support services.

LCAVD is also searching for a new approved provider for its Horsham home, Sunnyside.

Mr Pitt-Lancaster said that any changes under a new approved provider would be minimal in the short term for staff and day-to-day operations.

There will also be minimal impacts on residents.

LCAVD district administrator and chief operating officer, Stephen Mildred said in searching for a new provider, the emphasis would be on ensuring that the high standards of Christian care which had exemplified Eventide for decades, continues long into the future in the face of many challenges expected in the next 12-18 months.

He said consultations have been undertaken with the board, staff, residents and their families and the reasoning behind the move was broadly supported.

There have been substantial legislative and regulatory changes in recent years, and these are anticipated to accelerate with a requirement for increased minutes of care per resident per day from October this year and the implementation of a new Aged Care Act from July 1, 2025.

Mr Mildred said the time had come to take the prudent step of handing it over to an approved provider with greater resources, scale and systems to meet the July 2025 changes.
