THE Proway-sponsored wool handling competition was well subscribed with the event running throughout Sunday.
The winner of the Open competition was Macarthur-based wool-classer and handler, Mark Purcell who last year competed in the World Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships, also known as the Golden Shears World Championships, which took place at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh in June 2023.
This event, often referred to as the ‘Olympics of sheep shearing’ brought together top shearers and wool handlers from 30 countries.
Speaking to The Spectator after the Sheepvention event, Mr Purcell said he greatly enjoyed competing and would very much like to compete internationally again.
