IMPLEMENTATION of river improvement works for the lower Wannon River has been advocated by the committee set up to investigate the proposed Lower Wannon River Improvement Trust. But instead of establishing a lower Wannon trust, the committee recommends the Glenelg River Improvement Trust extends its boundaries to include the lower reaches of the Wannon. In its report released yesterday, the committee warns that river flats of the lower Wannon could become a permanent flood plain in winter unless remedial work is carried out. The committee, which was set up in March this year, wants the Glenelg Trust to take in the lower Wannon catchment area from the Wannon Falls to the junction with the Glenelg River.
