SEVERAL local brigades attended a fire in the township of Coleraine in Trangmar Street on Saturday afternoon.
CFA District 5 Commander, Rainer Kiessling said the Coleraine Fire Brigade were actually at the Coleraine Show when the call came in.
“We attended and found a three-bay shed fully involved in fire upon arrival,” he said.
“It was a 3 x 9-10 metre shed.
“The owners were in the house at the time and heard banging and popping from the shed and rushed outside to see the shed fully engulfed and called the fire brigade.”
Commander Riessling said he joined crews from six CFA appliances who attended, as well as Balmoral group officer, Rodney McFarlane.
“Crews from Coleraine, Hamilton, Tarrenlea and Hilgay attended. Casterton responded but were not required.
“Members with breathing apparatus were also on scene.”
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
“We suspect it was an electrical fault,” Cmdr Kiessling said.
“Assorted items inside the shed including a caravan were affected by the fire.
“The call came in about 12.30pm on Saturday and was all under control by 1.30pm.”
