THANKS to the incredible support of the community, the Western District Health Service (WDHS) Annual Appeal has raised over $50,000 to fund important equipment upgrades at the Hamilton Base Hospital, Coleraine and Penshurst campuses.
The funds raised will help make a difference where it’s needed most, with the community donating $34,000 to Hamilton Base Hospital, $8000 to Coleraine, and $8000 to Penshurst throughout May and June.
At Penshurst, the Appeal has funded a new ECG machine, to ensure the team can provide accurate heart health assessments for residents and patients.
This year’s funds have also purchased an i-STAT Machine for the Coleraine Campus, to allow for fast blood analysis to help doctors make timely care decisions.
A Bronchoscopy for the Hamilton Base Hospital Operating Theatres will help diagnose and treat lung conditions, enhancing respiratory care.
WDHS chief executive, Rowena Clift, thanked the community and volunteers for their generosity to WDHS.
“We’re so thankful for every donation we receive. Every contribution helps us stay equipped to serve our community’s health needs now and into the future.”
This year over 100 incredible volunteers, including 76 students from The Hamilton & Alexandra College’s Laidlaw House, hit the streets, delivering letters and raising awareness about the Appeal.
“Without our dedicated volunteers, many who help out every year, we couldn’t run this important fundraiser,” Ms Clift said.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the letter drop, and to all who generously contributed to the Appeal. Your support truly makes a difference.”
