Port Fairy footpath renewal works commence

THE Moyne Shire Council (MSC) have been renewing the existing footpath, kerb and channel along the west side of Princes Street, between Cox Street and Bank Street in Port Fairy.

Works commenced on Monday and will continue for approximately four weeks, depending on weather and site conditions.

Vehicular access to properties will be affected during construction works, however the MSC will endeavour to minimise any inconvenience to residents.

The need for this pathway was identified in the MSC’s annual shire-wide footpath renewal program.

A MSC spokesperson said, “The footpath is approaching the end of its useful life.

“A condition assessment showed the pathway has various defects above the intervention threshold.

“Kerb and channel works undertaken at the same time will renew both assets to ensure safety and amenity for the community.”

The works are funded by the MSC in accordance with their annual footpath renewal program.

Consultation with residents was undertaken.
