Sunday ‘Music in the Gardens’

FOLLOWING the success of the first ‘Music in the Gardens’ session with the Evergreens, entertainment in the Hamilton Botanic Gardens will be back on January 5, 2025, from 2-4pm.

To grace the stage is the dynamic duo, Peter Cook OAM and Peter Milburn, followed by solo artists Em, and Johnny Lovett, and violinist, Toni McDonald.

Mr Cook said he and Mr Milburn would play “a variety of songs – mainly country and popular music”.

“The gardens are a superb venue, and I’m personally delighted to see them being used more,” he said.

“We had the Christmas Carols event recently which was well attended.

“It’s such a good venue – if you get the right day – it’s beautiful. The more they can be used the better.

“We will play a few songs together with Toni.

“Em performs more current kind of music – she just performs beautifully on her own.

“Johnny will play with all of us.”

Mr Cook said he was pleased to see the sessions being run again and that they were very popular.

“Over the years it’s given people a lot of pleasure,” he said.

“There’s no charge and there’s a fringe benefit –even if you’re not there, within a certain circumference around the gardens, you can still hear it.

“The Friends of the Hamilton Botanic Gardens do a great job.

“And also thank you to the Hamilton Spectator for the wonderful support promoting the sessions over the years.”

The Friends of the Gardens thanked all the performers for giving their time over the summer period and pleasure to our community, providing such wonderful quality entertainment in the Gardens.

Friends of the Gardens committee member, Jane Heazlewood was pleased with the first session that was held in the Gardens this summer.

She encouraged Hamiltonian’s and visitors to attend the wonderful Gardens and enjoy the array of talent for the second performance this summer.

It will be a great variety of authentic Australian musicians sure to entertain in a beautiful setting.

Bring your chair, a rug and refreshments, and sit back and enjoy the local talent.
