Guest speaker at Friends’ AGM

THE Friends of Hamilton Botanic Gardens will hold their 2022 Annual General Meeting next week with guest speaker, Michele Adler.

Ms Adler has a wealth of experience as a horticultural publisher, author, journalist, filmmaker, radio and TV presenter, tour leader, and was a lecturer in horticulture at the University of Melbourne, Burnley Campus.

The topic of her talk will be “Gardens of Galápagos”; Ms Adler and her husband Rod McMillan have been visiting Galápagos since 1995, and since 2000 have led eco-cultural tours to exotic and exciting places in the world including The Galápagos Islands and Madagascar.

They are particularly interested in sharing their vast knowledge about plant–animal interactions in the environment.

In 2001, they prepared the Master Landscape Development Plan for the Charles Darwin Research Station at Galápagos Islands, which is a blueprint for the visitor experience, and have on four occasions worked at the Research Station as volunteers.

The AGM will be held at the Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL) on North Boundary Road, Hamilton, on Friday, September 9, commencing with a light luncheon at 12pm with the meeting to commence at 1.15pm; members are most welcome to invite guests.
