Good shorn lambs remain firm in smaller market

WEDNESDAY’S Hamilton yarding consisted of 3000 lambs and 900 sheep, some 1750 fewer than last week’s market. The quality on offer was not up to last week’s standard but did have a good lead in the lambs tailing off very quickly to 1 and 2 score lambs. The sheep offering was principally ewes covering most weights and grades.

Not all regular processors were active and very limited feeder competition was evident and no store buyers operated. Despite the drop in quality the market for the good shorn lambs remained firm to slightly dearer, however, the secondary lambs were softer by $10 per head. Hoggets made to $36p/hd.
