New season lambs boost overall market standard

NUMBERS rebounded on Wednesday to 2430 lambs and 1770 sheep at Hamilton.

The yarding comprised 500 new season lambs signalling the start for the region, with the quality very good overall. The offering of sheep provided most weights and grades the majority being crossbred Ewes. Most of the regular processors were present some not fully active. No feeder competition and little store competition was evident. The market remained strong to be firm to slightly dearer for shorn lambs. New season lambs sold to $150 per head with most new season lambs realising between 500c to 570c/kg cwt.
