Express set for move

THE Hamilton Motorcycle Club had a successful club day on Sunday with a big field of riders taking to the track.

It was a good lead-up to the annual Pony Express with this year’s event set to incorporate parts of the track for the first time.

The event had previously been held out in Merino, but riders will contest the Pony Express closer to town with the Marshalls Road precinct set to be a big part of the new course.

The event was initially earmarked for May 22, but has been pushed back to August 7.

Club vice-president, Joel Watt said the event’s new date ensured organisers had the best chance of putting together a great event.

“It just suited the core group of organisers a bit better,” he said.

“The club has got a good reputation of putting on a well run event and I think we can come up with a track that can appeal to the different riders out there.”

Plans are to set out a 10km track with riders travelling from across the state as well as South Australia and New South Wales expected to take to the track.

June 19 and July 17 will be provide opportunities for riders to prepare on the club’s track with Pony Express registrations set to open closer to race day.

“It will be closer to the date, just stay tuned to our Facebook page for all the details,” Watt said.
