THIS week, both the Under 12’s and Division 1 Seniors matches were postponed and the Under 14s are on a school holiday break, so it was only the Senior Reserves that took to the field against Port Fairy Plovers at home with an unfortunate loss of 7-1.
Hamilton started well but were on the back foot for most of the first half conceding two early goals.
Nonetheless, Hamilton created chances with a neat halfway interplay between Aisha Hendriks and Matthew Behrendt sending Behrendt through on goal with a late tackle by Port Fairy which stopped the goal and Saran Gration missed the rebound.
Port Fairy continued their shooting superiority in the second half and scored further goals.
To Hamilton’s credit, it kept attacking and a well-worked team counterattack through Anthony McFarlane and Caiden Wood saw Saran Gration score a goal against the run of play.
Nick Perkins, Ben Perkins and Aisha Hendriks performed well all game.
The Reserves continue to improve and take on Warrnambool Wolves in Warrnambool next Saturday, while the Division 1 Seniors play the Stawell Pioneers in Stawell on Sunday.
