IT is that time of year, as the region’s best female athletes gather next week to celebrate milestones and achievements at the annual Hamilton Sportswoman of the Year awards.
With seven nominees for Sportswoman of the Year and eight in contention for the Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Monday night’s event will continue a long tradition and it is anybody’s guess as to who will claim the two major awards.

Poppy Austin (Cross Country Running)
Poppy placed fourth at the Australian Cross Country Championships and second at the All Schools Cross Country Championships.
Jordyn Brown (Clay Target Shooting)
Jordyn placed third in C grade at the Australian Double Barrel Trap and competed in B grade at the state championships, where she was the overall winner.
Kelly Hitchcock (Golf)
Kellie won the B grade scratch title at the Victorian Sandgreens Championships and placed sixth in the open event.
Narelle Frichot (Marathon Running)
Narelle completed the Boston Marathon in Boston, USA, and the Melbourne Marathon. She also won the 10km run at the Port Fairy Marathon.
Molly O’Brien (Golf)
Molly competed in the SSV Secondary Schools Golf Final at Yarra Yarra Golf Club and the Victorian Junior Open Golf at Barwon Heads
Robyn Thomassen (Bowls)
Robyn placed fourth in the Champion of Champions at the State Championships and won singles and pairs titles at regional level.
Sue Walter (Tennis)
Sue won the singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the Oceania Senior Regional Championships, where she was ranked fourth in singles and second in doubles in Australia.
Zoe Addinsall (Tetrathlon/Pentathlon)
Zoe won the 13-17yrs Tetrathlon at the Pony Club Australian National Championships and won the Under-17 Modern Pentathlon at the Australian Pentathlon Championships and the Tetrathlon and Pentathlon at the Victorian State Championships.
Willow Boughton (Netball/Basketball/Cross Country)
Willow competed in the SSV Victorian Netball Championships in the Gray St Primary School team, reaching the semi-final. She was also selected at the Basketball Victoria Jamboree and won the Under-11 State Cross Country Championship in Warrnambool.
Emily Iredell (Basketball)
Emily competed at the SSV Vic State Basketball Selection Camp in Wendouree and the Basketball Jamboree in Echuca.
Matilda Mason (Pentathlon/Show Jumping)
Matilda won the Under-15 Modern Pentathlon and Under-11, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 Fencing Poule at the National Pentathlon Championships. She also won the show jumping event at the Pony Club National Championships.
Maddie Mayne (Show Jumping)
Maddie competed in the Pony Club Australia National Championships where she placed fourth as an individual and first in the team event. She also competed in the Sydney Agnes Banks Equine Spring Classic.
Yolanda O’Sullivan (Cross Country Running/Basketball)
Competed in the SSV State Cross Country Championships in Melbourne and the SSV Vic State Basketball Selection Camp in Wendouree.
Jemima Ross (Rowing)
Jemima was third in the single scull at the Rowing Victoria State Championships and first in the quad in the Year 9 Div 2 at the Junior Girls State Championships and second in the quad at the Head of Schoolgirls Regatta.
Eve Wear (Tennis)
Eve won the Under-11 event at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Open, a Tennis Australia Event and competed at the State Tennis Primary Girls State Finals. She was first at the Universal Tennis Rating Junior Classic in Melbourne.
