IT was going to be bulls and horses, dodgem cars and fairy floss, but recent rain has forced the cancellation of the Hamilton Racing Club’s rodeo and carnival next month.
Due to the volume of rain recently, the club was forced to assess the options and a decision was made on Thursday to abandon plans for the event, scheduled for November 19, and look ahead to next year’s event.
Club manager, Peta Anderson said the excess rain was just too much to overcome.
“Because it was the first time we have had it, we had to do some preparation to the arena and we got told there was no way it could be done and have it ready in time,” she said.
“Even if it was going to be warmer in the next few weeks, we didn’t think we would have enough time to prepare it.
“After cup day, we thought we would do it, but it was just too wet.
“It was really disappointing, we already had tickets on sale and we had already sold some.
“I am just hoping we can hopefully put on a bigger event next year with a bit more time to plan.”
The club will is still hoping to complete the works over summer.
