Under-16 Boys
IT was a tough carnival for the Under-16 Boys, recording only one victory.
Having a bye in round one gave the side the opportunity to observe its round two opponents and after watching Wallan lose badly to Wangaratta, the Hurricanes could have been forgiven for thinking they could more than match Wallan.
It wasn’t to be though, as Wallan found the form that went missing in round one and the Hurricanes went down, 41-42, to suffer a first up loss with Jobe Dunn shooting 13 points to top the Hurricanes’ scoring.
The third round had the Hurricanes battling the Storm of Bellarine and the side recorded a strong victory, 51-44, with no one player dominating the scoring, as Jack Sobey, Frank Gill and Xavier White registered eight points each.
Round four saw the team battle hard against Geelong with Frank Gill scoring 10 points to lead the way in a tough loss, 44-54.
The final round had the Hurricanes against its toughest opposition in Seymour, and even though the score went against the locals, they pushed the opposition all the way but went down, 43-68, with Matthew Calvert recording the hot hand with 14 points.
Under-16 Girls
IT was a successful carnival for the Under-16 Girls, as they posted four wins and a loss for the weekend to keep their season ticking along.
Round one on Saturday saw the Hurricanes put Geelong to the sword, 64-15, as Saskia Gould provided the focal point in attack with 24 points, while Ruby Cleaver (14 points) and Isabella Malseed (12) gave great support.

Keilor was the opponent in round three and the Hurricanes took no prisoners, as they swept the opposition off the court with a 45-28 victory.
Gould again held the hot hand with 12 points, but she had great assistance from Skye Kissel who posted 11 points.
The girls were on fire against Surf Coast in round four, posting their largest victory of the weekend, 54-10, but the Hurricanes found other avenues to the hoop this time, as Cleaver (11) and Lily Raymond (10) led the scoring.

Under-12 Girls
HURRICANES’ Under-12 Girls were the dominant team at the carnival, as they swept the floor with every opponent across the weekend to win their four games.
Round one saw the girls pitted against hosts, Geelong 2, and the side was quickly into their stride, as they posted a 55-10 victory off the back of Pippa Richards (15 points) and Taya Sherlock (12).
The second round had the Hurricanes meeting Geelong 3 and the side registered an overwhelming 86-2 win, with Tatum Bell holding the hot hand with 30 points, while Poppy Ann Shepherd (14), Richards (12) and Sherlock (12) all shot well.

Shepherd (11) and Bell (nine points) rounded out their individual carnivals with another strong showing.
The Representative competitions travel onwards to next weekend as Horsham hosts the various Associations and the Hurricanes will be searching to again post strong performances from their squads.
