Hamilton campdraft postponed

THE Hamilton Campdraft has been postponed with organisers looking at a new date in March.

The three-day event was initially scheduled for February 23-25, but could now be ran as late as Easter.

Event secretary, Cass Young said plans were still in place to ensure the event did go ahead at some point.

“The reason it has been postponed is because of operational delays, we are hoping to run towards the end of March,” she said.

“Either Easter or the weekend before, but we need to wait for some more information.

“They are about the only weekends free, but it will depend on reorganising first aid, catering and other things.”

There was a delay with some of the necessary documents, with the event now being pushed back a month.

“We aren’t able to get the additional info submitted and getting approval by the initial date, so we decided the best option was to postpone and hopefully everything will go through and we will be right in March,” Young said.

“Our entries were due to open on Monday, and we just couldn’t see everything would get done on time, so better not to take any entries until we had more clarity.

“We had to reschedule to April once before due to COVID and our numbers were as normal, and we could possibly run then, but the weather starts to get a bit dicey by then.

“Our cattle donors are aware, and we should be fine with cattle numbers.”

While frustrating, Young said organisation continued with more information known in the coming weeks.

“It is just a bit unfortunate, but that is the way sometimes,” she said.

“Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will know more, we are just waiting to hear back from companies to see whether those dates are able to be used by first aid personnel, which is the main thing.

“As soon as we know, we will definitely be putting a date up on the Facebook page.”
