TOMORROW'S Hamilton gallops meeting has been transferred to Ballarat Turf Club.
After an inspection by Racing Victoria stewards midweek, it was determined that the track requires additional time to consolidate following its recent renovation.
In what has been an indifferent start to the 2024 season, the four scheduled jumps events will race on the course proper as normal, while the remaining five flat races will be held on the synthetic track.
The four jumps races consist of two hurdles and two steeplechases.
Ballarat trainer, Julie Scott, will look forward to the change of venue with her maiden hurdler, Davelliom.
After a solid fifth at Warrnambool behind Calvi at the first jumps meeting for the season, the eight-year-old has been kept to the mark with close-up fourth on the flat at Geelong behind handy galloper, Bitcoin.
If he has come on from his first attempt at the hurdles, he looks one of the better bets on the card when tackling the Ecycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle.
A four-time winner on slow or heavy tracks, you can expect him to be on pace with leading rider, Will Gordon, in the saddle.
He should get a good trail behind one of his main dangers in Murrumbidgee River, also trained on track by Declan Maher.
The Ciaron Maher Racing Hurdle looks a good race for Crosshill, who is on his way to bigger targets at the May Carnival.
A flat run in between his win last month and tomorrow’s race will have him fitter and the one to beat.
Stawell trainer, Andrew Bobbin, will saddle up two great chances in the steeplechase events.
Duke Of Bedford has been in great flat form and looks ready for a forward showing in the Henry Dwyer Racing 0-114 Steeplechase, while the gun jumper, Mighty Oasis, looks hard to beat in the Open Ecycle Solutions Steeplechase.
He will renew his battle with the Aaron Purcel-trained Instigator, who just got the better of him at Warrnambool last month.
On the flat, Adandiman looks one of the better bets, should the track stay in reasonable condition, slow or better ground preferable.
Trained by Tom Dabernig, the free-running galloper will appreciate the drop back to 1400m and the claim from stable apprentice, Jordyn Weatherley, in one of the heats of the Neville Wilson race series.
In the last, which looks a very weak 0-58, Shez Steamin’ from the Saab Hasan stable looks as good a chance as any runner.
A winner first-up previously, the engagement of leading rider Dean Yendall, could be the ingredient that gets her across the line in front.
The gates will open at 11am free to the public with the first at 12.22pm and the final race at 5.20pm.
Good punting.
