IN perfect autumn weather, 90 bowlers in 30 teams organised by the match committee contested the Prime lamb tournament on Saturday.
The food was delicious, the organisation first class and the players were primed for a great day.
After four games, Kevin Johnson from Warrnambool teamed with our own John Crane and Carolyn Schurmann to be the only team to win four games.
Alison East from Grangeburn played with Gerard Lucas and Keith Bunge from Port Fairy to finish second, and Geoff Woods led Kevin Smith from Port Fairy and Thelma Amuketi to finish third.
All three teams won prime lamb trays.
Six raffle prizes of lamb trays and legs of lamb completed the day.
Thanks to our wonderful sponsors and the many volunteers who made the day possible.
On Thursday, 42 bowlers joined in for three games of triples.
The formidable team of Rob Baker, Heather Gough, and Richard Neeves (first win for our new bowler) were the winners, with Tom Storer, Russell Sherren and Ken Dunbar close behind.
Coming up on June 1 is our first winter Bonanza Day sponsored by generous club members.
Entries close on May 30, but enter early as the rinks will be full.
Crane has been mentioned in dispatches with a fine win on Saturday, but he is equally good at painting, giving the clubhouses a much need makeover.
Thanks John, for a job well done.
