IT was local bragging rights up for grabs, with Hamilton hosting Grangeburn in Division 1 Weekend Pennant action on Saturday.
Division 1
GRANGEBURN travelled to Hamilton for the local match-up, with the visitors collecting just two points from the round six clash after going down, 50-69.
Peter Clapham opened the day up with a 32-10 win against Leah McCabe, while Robert Thornton edged out Trevor Partington, 23-21.
Grangeburn’s only rink win came after Ken Prewett got the better of Peter Graham, 19-14.
Penshurst travelled north to Balmoral and returned empty handed, losing 49-76.
Peter Merryfull got the home side started with a 27-16 win, before Derek Brody rolled up 25 to account for Alaister Rentsch by eight shots, and Daniel Brody got the better of Phillip Allen, 24-16.
Heywood also claimed maximum points at home, comfortably defeating Casterton, 95-47.
Lionel Pevitt got the better of Andrew Alderton, 35-13, while Mick Swan rolled up 35 to win by 17 against Neil Shannon, and Ken Woolley defeated Michael Kearns, 25-16.
Memorial upset ladder leader, Portland, to scoop all 16 available points with a 62-48 win.
Gregory Dobbin defeated Lindsay Gruar, 23-18, while Chris Bramley rolled up 18 to hold off Barry Jennings by four shots, and Ian Grayson got the better of David Lake, 21-16.
Division 2
HAMILTON Green retained third spot on the ladder with a 42-34 win against Hamilton Gold, collecting maximum points as well.
Alan Crane rolled up 21 shots to Michael Pech’s 16, while Alison East got the better of John Forsyth, 21-18.
Grangeburn could only return with one points after its 30-49 loss to Portland down south.
Lesley Stewart’s 11 was 19 short of Heather Burgess, while Brian Kavanagh and Alan Warburton rolled up a 19-19 draw.
Memorial Blue won big against Coleraine, 51-37, thanks to Robert Hamblin’s 36-19 effort against Steven Cooper.
Bruce Armstrong gave the visitors a small consolation, defeating Jan Hamblin, 18-15.
Memorial Red claimed maximum points from its clash at home against Macarthur, winning 44-34.
Gerry Watt rolled up 22 to Frank Pye’s 17, while Paul Soffe defeated Clifton Tonissen with the same scoreline.
Division 3
HAMILTON Gold remains on top of the rankings after edging out Grangeburn by the narrowest of margins, 39-38.
It was a thrilling contest, with Raymond Fary collecting a 23-21 victory against Peter Moore, before Tom Storer went down to Wayne Rigby, 16-17.
Hamilton Green lost out to Heywood, returning empty handed after a 30-39 loss.
Coral Stephens got Heywood off to a winning start with a narrow 15-14 result against Rhonda Dunbar, before Bob Bowden had an easier time against Cliff Brinkman, winning 24-16.
Dartmoor hosted the visiting Penshurst side and claimed all available points with a 46-30 victory.
Peter Holmes claimed a comfortable 25-15 win against Barry King, while Ross Kerr also got the better of John King, 21-15.
Memorial hosted Portland and collected 12 of 14 available points with a 36-34 victory.
Gary Milich rolled up 20 to Coral Barbary’s 11, while Portland’s Andrew Smail almost flipped the script with a 23-16 win against Rob Liddle.
Division 4
GRANGEBURN faced off against Hamilton, with the ‘burners completely outclassed, losing 25-51.
Graeme Langsworth had an easy time against Beverley Casey, 28-8, while Ray Downes continued his impressive form, rolling up 23 to win by six against Lawrence Foley.
Coleraine hosted Macarthur and collected a 43-37 victory to finish with 12 of a possible 14 points.
Lesley Beaton picked up a 26-15 win against Carole Dunn, Macarthur’s Anne Gilmour bounced back to win, 22-17 against Arthur Guy.
Balmoral had a win against Penshurst, 55-24, to scoop 12 points from the clash.
Alan Perry had a day out, collecting a 40-5 victory against Neil Manning, while Michael Cameron gave the visitors something to celebrate, accounting for Murray McInnes with a 19-15 scoreboard.
Portland travelled to Casterton and swept both rinks to claim maximum points with a 40-24 result.
Myra Bourke rolled up a 19-11 result against Anne Kearns, while Naomi Pye finished with 21 to hold out Teresa Sealey by eight shots.
