FRESH off a weekend without games, Hamilton returns to action for a Country Basketball League (CBL) double header at HILAC this weekend.
Having a round one bye meant the club had played six weeks straight, and with last weekend’s bye a chance to freshen up and work on things at training, this weekend will see the Hurricanes go into the two games hopeful of improved performances.
The double header starts with a clash against Terang tonight, with an almost full squad to choose from for the two games.
“Horsham we went undermanned, and I think there is only two or three out of the full squad that are unavailable this weekend,” Hurricanes co-coach, Dean Le Roy said.
“One of the hardest things is when we have a full squad, we have a lot of experience, but we have to pick the best side, if the young guys don’t get on the court, they understand; they are learning at plenty at training.”
“We just got to be smarter with our subs and minutes and rotations, just when to put fresh legs on and we have got a much idea compared to back at the start of the season.”
Defence continues to be a focus for the team, as the Hurricanes eye off a second win of the season.
“It (defence) won us the game against Ararat, our offence will come, we know we have those shooters,” Le Roy said.
“We have to go in with a mindset that we are not going to beat teams, that we will match them and we just stick to our game plan.”
Tonight’s game against the Tornadoes tips off at 6pm, with the team back on the court tomorrow at 1pm when the Hurricanes host Mt Gambier.
