THE Hamilton Basketball Association senior division one seasons continued this week with finals just three weeks away.

Women’s Division 1

St Mary’s Orange d St Mary’s Black

ST Mary’s Orange and St Mary’s Black opened proceedings in Tuesday’s early Women’s Division 1 game, with Orange getting the win by 13 points.

It was an even first half with both teams creating plenty of scoring opportunities, with Orange edging ahead to go into the main break with a three-point advantage.

The second half saw the game blow out, with Black unable to match the pressure of Orange.

All six Orange players contributed on the scoreboard, as the team went on to record a 34-21 victory.

Tigers d Minders

TIGERS and Minders faced off in the other game, with the later game being a much closer contest, as Tigers claimed a four-point win at the final buzzer.

Minders started the game well, keeping Tigers honest and applying pressure across the court, but Tigers’ effort didn’t diminish, going into the main break leading, 16-13.

The second half was an even closer contest, as Minders matched Tigers in offence and defence, but it wasn’t enough to close the scoreboard deficit, as Tigers were ahead, 26-22, when the game ended.

Rhianne Lewis was the standout for Tigers, putting up eight points in the win, while Caeleigh Humphries matched the output, also finishing with eight points for Minders.

Men’s Division 1

Minders d Barber Boys White

IT was a one-sided game to open Wednesday’s Men’s Division 1 schedule, as Minders recorded a 19-point win against second-placed Barber Boys White, narrowing the gap on the ladder to just two points.

The first half saw both teams grab momentum at different times, with 52 points scored, as Minders edged clear to go into the main break leading, 27-25.

That was the closest it got for the rest of the game though, as Minders kept White at arm’s length for the first few minutes of the second half before going on a run and creating plenty of breathing room on the scoreboard, eventually winning, 56-37.

Josh Miller finished with 19 points for the winners, while Nate Krause led the way for Barber Boys White with 10 points.

St Mary’s Orange d St Mary’s Black

A dominant first half from Orange set the tone for the rest of the game, as the team combined for  27 points to go into the half time break with a 14-point advantage.

The second half was a closer contest, but Black was unable to reel in the deficit, as Orange went on to win, 51-33.
