THE Hamilton Basketball Association finalists are taking shape with just one round left to play before finals.
Women’s Division 1
Tigers d St Mary’s Black
THE early game on Tuesday saw Tigers collect a 16-point win against St Mary’s Black.
Tigers started slowly, as Black burst out of the blocks and raced out to a 9-4 lead at half time.
The second half was when Tigers got rolling, piling on 28 points to eventually record a 32-16 victory to ensure the team remained in second spot.
Ruby Cleaver did her best to drag Black over the line with five points, while Rhianne Lewis continued her strong form with nine points for Tigers.
St Mary’s Orange d Minders
THE late game saw St Mary’s Orange keep top spot after an eight-point win against Minders.
The first half was a tight contest with both teams making the most of their scoring chances, as Minders edged ahead to lead, 11-10, at the main break.
Orange got the better of Minders in the second half, scoring 20 points to 11 to win, 30-22, at the final buzzer.
Emily Iredell led the way for the winners with nine points, while Marissa Jamieson top-scored for Minders with seven points.
Men’s Division 1
Minders d St Mary’s Black
WEDNESDAY’S round 12 games got underway with Minders and St Mary’s Black facing off, with Minders grabbing a 25-point win to ensure the team finishes the season in third spot.
IT was a dominant first half which set the precedent for the way the game would be played, as Minders put up 35 points to Black’s 11 to go into the main break with a comfortable lead.
The second half saw Black fight back and balance up the contest, scoring 24 points, but Minders’ 25 points ensured the team went on to win, 60-35.
Josh Miller and Karatau Keightley each put up 15 points for the winners, while Craig Jackson scored 10 points for St Mary’s Black.
Barber Boys White d Barber Boys Black
IT was an almost identical scoreline in the second game, with Barber Boys White accounting for Barber Boys Black by 26 points.
A 31-point opening half set the result up for White, with Aaron Glare instrumental early on, as White took a 25-point lead into the main break.
Black bounced back in the second half, scoring 29 points, but wasn’t able to restrict White’s scoring, with the final score settling on 61-35.
Glare finished the game with 20 points for White, and had strong support from Shai Bunworth (14 points), while Tyson Sparroe was Black’s best scorer with nine points.
Next week’s games will be the final round before finals.
