Six locals set for Under-12 Jamboree

SIX local basketballers are set for the Basketball Victoria Under-12 Jamboree in Echuca.

Connor Crawford, Meki Churchill, Nina Roll, Luella Causer, Charlie Moyle and Hana Churchill made the cup after skills days in July, with the group of six among 240 selected for the four-day invitational event, which runs from today through to Tuesday.

Crawford said it was exciting to get the chance to learn new skills at the event.

“Pretty excited for it (Jamboree), I was a little bit nervous for the skills day,” he said.

“I think my finishing could get a bit better under pressure, and it will be good to play against some more people at my capability.”

Crawford started playing when he was eight years old and played for Tigers Gold in the Under-14A Boys section in the recent winter season.

The Gray Street Primary School student said he was excited to have other locals involved as well.

“I like to have some other locals to go with,” he said.

“I want to be able to score, but not be too selfish in the games.

“I want to be a good teammate up there.”

Crawford models his game on Giannis Antetokounmpo and hopes to make a career from basketball.
