Top teams dominate on court

THE Hamilton Basketball Association round four fixture looked a bit different, with Women’s Division 1 games played on Thursday instead of Tuesday.

Men’s Division 1

Barber Boys d GT Storm

IT was a high-scoring contest to start the night, with Barber Boys putting up 62 points to defeat GT Storm by 24 points.

A 44-point first half set the tone for the contest, with GT Storm unable to reel in the 31-point deficit after half time, as Barber Boys went on to claim a comfortable win to retain top spot on the ladder.

Joel Le Roy put up a game-high 29 points for the winners to put the result beyond doubt, while Lachlan Rentsch led the way for GT Storm with 13 points.

Minders d St Mary’s Orange

IT was a much tighter battle in the late game, with Minders edging out St Mary’s Orange by two points.

Orange started the better of the two teams, showing consistency to go into half time with a three-point advantage.

The second half saw Minders rally and put together strong offence to grab the lead and eventually won, 43-41.

Bailey Cooper starred for Minders, finishing the game with 14 points, while Josh Miller and Daniel Spillman each added 10 points in support.

St Mary’s Orange’s standouts were Josh Hallam and Charlie Field, each adding nine points to the team’s tally.

Women’s Division 1

Tigers d St Mary’s Orange

THE early game saw Tigers claim the points against St Mary’s Orange, winning 40-29.

Orange struggled in the first half, as Tigers dominated to go into the main break leading, 21-15.

It was a similar story in the second half, as Tigers continued to stretch the margin out, eventually claiming an 11-point victory at the final buzzer.

Rhianne Lewis put up nine points for the winners, while Emily Iredell was the standout for St Mary’s Orange, finishing the game with 10 points.

St Mary’s Black d Minders

THE later game was also a bit of a blowout, with St Mary’s Black defeating Minders by 22 points.

Black doubled Minders’ output in the first half, going into the break leading, 16-8, before continuing on in the second half to claim a 50-28 victory to remain undefeated on top of the ladder.

Saskia Gould continued her stunning season, putting up 18 points for the winners, along with 14 points from Lily Raymond.

Zoe Hill and Caeleigh Humphries each put up 10 points for Minders in the round four loss.
