HAMILTON and District Cricket Association selectors have named the first HDCA Hurricanes team for the 2022-23 representative season with the side to play Wimmera Mallee at City Oval in Horsham tomorrow.
Hurricanes coach, Nic Cullinane, announced his first team of the season noting that the restricted start to the season was not ideal for his players, but they would be fully prepared for their Western Waves Festival of Cricket matches this summer.
The Hurricanes announced a very young team with the following players selected Rick Killey, Ben Holmes (Casterton District); Tobi Cook, Hamish Cook, Caleb Millard (Hamilton); Ollie Wortley, Jack Wortley (Macarthur); Lachie Watt, Jack Austin (College); Peter Staude (Pigeon Ponds), and Harrison Wood (Grampians).
While it is a young side that will travel north for the clash, there is experience mixed with the youth to help guide the side, but all players selected are in form and performing with bat and ball in the disrupted start to the summer.
Victory against Wimmera Mallee tomorrow will knock the northerners out of the competition with the Hurricanes to still to play Horsham on 18 December with the winner likely to play the final in Hamilton on January 29.
