THE 1981 Hamilton Football Club premiership team is set to gather to celebrate their success.
The event, initially planned for August 7, 2021, will bring a full complement of players back together at Melville Oval for the first time in more than 10 years.
Premiership player and reunion co-organiser, Greg Stevens said it was exciting to finally get the group together after COVID forced last year’s planned event to be cancelled.
“We have got together as a group every 10 years since we won and after last year’s disappointment, it will be great to get everyone back together again this year,” he said.
“We have a tight bond as a group and we are looking forward to celebrating the team’s success again next Saturday.”
The team will also select the best Hamilton Kangaroos player during their clash against Terang Mortlake, with the player to get a specially minted reunion medal.
Hamilton faced South Gambier in the 1981 Western Border Football League grand final, winning the replay by 16 points at Coleraine’s Silvester Oval.
